I stopped and picked some cheese, salami and cherries and pulled over and had my lunch here. Notice the dugout canoe in the distance and Red Velvet sunning herself.
On the road you see all kinds of interesting signs and people driving serious camper rigs, etc. this one caught my eye because he had a Harley hanging off a motorhome towing a nice jeep, with a canoe on top and bicycles hanging off the back of the jeep. Impressive engineering and a strong engine in that motorhome.
Here are a couple of pictures of Big Horn rams and a caribou (bigger than you think).
About 90 kilometers from Dawson Creek a huge storm down poured on me and Red Velvet. The lightening was major and we motored on despite it...then I saw a hotel and I pulled over and got a room. The place was smelly and run down but I thought I could make do. NOT...very nasty room and all rooms were for smoking. Mine had 3 ash trays. I got my money back and packed up and went back into the rain. The road went from asphalt to tar and chip (small gravel) and me and Red Velvet were thankful for her new tires. I finally got to Dawson Creek and the rain stopped and there was a brand new Holiday Inn Express (thank you God) and I promptly booked a room. What a difference 70 kilometers made. This is my room tonight.
Lastly, I am feeling a bit homesick. I think today's ride did it. I also talked to Cathy and Conor which was good, but I miss them and Zach. Plus Cathy said Indy (our 16 year old dog) is not doing well...he has been sick and I am afraid his time with us is nearing the end. This is hard as we just went through losing our other dog Molly in March. Indy has been a very loyal friend for a long time and I hate the idea of losing him...especially if I am not home. The rest of the ride is dedicated to him.
